I made a mistake when reviewing the printer.  Please note, while you can save to PDF using the scanner, you cannot read PDF documents directly to the printer as I said it did.  My example was true, but I forgot that I had actually loaded the PDF into The Gimp first and exported it to JPG.  I actually printed the PDF from the JPG.  The Gimp is a free tool that works on all platforms, so while I was incorrect in my review, you can indeed do the same thing I did.
