  • Feature: Make a Windows/Linux/Mac-compatible font file from your own handwriting.  For free.
  • Redundant data storage; picking up where we left off.
  • Preparing yourself for a Gmail outage.
  • Christy Burton joins us as co-host.

Topics Covered:

  • Greetings to viewers in the chat room.
  • Google's Gmail was down for nearly a full day.  Learn what to do to prevent loss of access to your email if it ever goes down like that again, by pre-activating IMAP and POP support.
  • Viewer Comments with regards to the Gmail outage.
  • addu - a handy script to automatically add users to your Linux system and grant them samba access.
  • Viewer Question:  Is it "week-ee" or "wick-i"?
  • Robbie's neighbours party it up old-school style.
  • Welcome to new viewers.
  • Viewer Question:  We use Awcast for streaming, and are wondering if there is an easy way to be able to host multiple people with only one PC.  Would the software you use at Category5 work for us?
  • Viewer Comment:  Here are some ideas with regards to "five suns".
  • Viewer Question:  My dual-core Intel CPU is running at up to 95 degrees C.  What could be the problem?
  • Dealing with air flow issues which can cause computer overheating.
  • Viewer Comment:  Might be a good time to blow the dust out of the server.
  • What rsync is.
  • What cron is.
  • Viewer Question:  I'd like to backup my laptop to my Ubuntu desktop's hard drive, but can't figure out how to access it.  How can I set this up?
  • Setting up a samba share on Ubuntu.
  • Viewer Comment:  Use CoreTemp.
  • Viewer Question:  Is there a way to download the old episodes of Category5.TV?
  • Viewer Question:  Could you give your opinion on KDE?
  • Viewer Question:  Could you fix the perfectbuntu script so we can read the text?
  • The difference between redundant data storage and backups.
  • Viewer Question:  Could you show how to install Ubuntu on RAID 0?
  • A little bit about RAID, without spending too much time talking about inapplicable things.
  • Robbie's initial impression of NASlite.
  • The most likely solution to our redundant storage solution: UnRAID.  Because we want a Drobo-like device without the hefty Drobo price tag.
  • Robbie bought Bekah a new AMD computer--and now cannot use Adobe Air (Seesmic, Tweetdeck, etc.)
  • Robbie's Favorites:  Creating a TTF font using your own handwriting.  Compatible with Mac, Linux and Windows computers.
  • Robbie's daughter created her own true-type font at 4 years old. [Download]
  • Installing a true-type font in Linux.
  • Robbie learned to print by typing.
  • Viewer Comment:  Entropia Universe / Planet Calypso now has official guides.

Notes:

I must apologize; the V1 cooler was indeed another fine product from Thermaltake.

A small correction: you can install Adobe Air just fine on AMD chips; it's just that it doesn't work.
