Let's get back into our 20 Weeks of GIMP Tips series with Tip #14: An introduction to Layer Masks and in particular how to use them to cut a background around complex objects such as loose hair. We'll also tackle a handful of comments and questions sent to us by our YouTube subscribers, covering everything from LVM on external drives to switching your Wine installation from win64 to win32.

This week, Shelly and I tackle the demon that haunts every rookie graphic designer: how to cut the background out of a photo that has a lot of messy hair!

Using the GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) we learn a technique that works very well in just about 30 seconds, as long as 1) your background is light and 2) your subject has reasonably dark.

We also crack open the YouTube comments and answer a handful of viewer questions, with exciting topics like Logical Volume Management, "permanently" switching Wine from 64-bit to 32-Bit, and removing echo from audio sources in Telestream Wirecast.

Enjoy the show, and please don't forget to like it and comment on our YouTube channel to help boost the show's status.

Thanks for all your continued support! It makes such a difference.
