We welcome back Eric Kidd and set out to create a promotional poster for all the gigs he's doing. We'll learn everything from RAW (NEF) images in GIMP to correcting levels and cropping for print.

With Hillary on maternity leave, Kelsey at school, Christa having left us and Sasha working elsewhere Tuesday nights, I was caught between a rock and a hard place this week as it became apparent I was not going to have a co-host for the show.

I weighed all my options, and the best one I could come up with was to reach out to my old friend (not that he's old -- just that we've been friends a while!) Eric Kidd ... and beg him to make an appearance.

Lucky for me (and viewers everywhere) he decided it might be fun, and since it happened to work with his guitar-teaching schedule this week, he took me up on the offer.

On this week's episode, Eric and I jump head-first into GIMP image editing. We'll open a RAW (NEF) image file, correct the lighting and colors, crop to printer size and make a sleek poster Eric can use to promote his gigs. Hold onto your mouse, because it's going to be a fast-paced, action-packed adventure of image editing (and grammar correcting) goodness!

I'll also try installing MariaDB on the Pi server using Raspbian's default repository rather than the one we added on Episode 433, and we'll review the state of our firewall, and even take a quick look at how to set up scheduled tasks in Linux using cronjobs.

Enjoy the show, and thank you for your continued patronage.

-Robbie

PS - If you like the font we used for Eric's poster, it's called femkeklaver, and it can be installed on Linux using the ttf-femkeklaver package (eg., via apt-get)! If you can't find it or otherwise can't use a package manager to install it (eg., you're on Windows, you sad, sad person you) you can grab it from 1001fonts.
