(07:12:29 PM) _Jot_: agamotto, it just looks so ... different there with Christa
(07:12:32 PM) calmchess: its just the beta ustream app doesn't allow it

(07:20:47 PM) ajamison5579: jxtdbor what do you use to define OS it stands for Operating System which means anything that is serving as the mediator between hardware and software
(07:20:59 PM) chrisreich: who is saying that Gadwil?
(07:21:01 PM) ajamison5579: so yes it is a distro based off debian but it is still an OS
(07:21:07 PM) Dosbomber: Is that a very large Mac screen, or is that just my perspective?
(07:21:09 PM) agamotto: Gadwil- Which is my worst fear... I may not bother until 12.04 for my main box.
(07:21:12 PM) Wreken: Crap, I late, did I miss anything?
(07:21:12 PM) majnoon: cat /dev/random >> index.html ??

(07:21:54 PM) calmchess: so nice
(07:21:56 PM) Gadwil: chrisreich, That is what I think it was Jono or ( can't remember the dude at canonical's name), they are saying it will be buggy at release, but should be almost completely fixed shortly thereafter.
(07:22:09 PM) agamotto: Dosbomber- She has a 17" Mac Pro
(07:22:20 PM) chrisreich: oh - you're speaking of Jono Bacon
(07:22:26 PM) Dosbomber: I thought it looked big-ish
(07:22:45 PM) ajamison5579: I want to have three Kick butt machines one with Linux one with WIndows and one a Mac
(07:22:47 PM) Dosbomber: I have a 17" Toshiba laptop... I call it a lap-and-a-half.. top
(07:22:51 PM) SammySez: My new lappy weighs 11 pounds :)
(07:22:58 PM) ajamison5579: but no money that is an expensive setup
(07:22:59 PM) GregInTexas: it's a nice lappy, but I'd wreck it trying to right click ...
(07:23:02 PM) agamotto: Gadwil- Yes, Jono Bacon has major concerns, but he is still hopeful
(07:23:04 PM) calmchess: fun
(07:23:09 PM) Gadwil: Yea, It is mainly due to the major change and them not being able to test on very many systems at first, so once people install, bug reports will increase allowing them to narrow down where the bugs are located, so they can fix them faster... at least that is what I think will happen.
(07:23:14 PM) calmchess: show how to center boxes
(07:23:18 PM) chrisreich: brb - I want tea
(07:23:21 PM) majnoon: is that full ubuntu or a Vbox ??
(07:23:24 PM) calmchess: center content
(07:23:45 PM) Gadwil: I installed Alpha on my system... crashed as soon as I installed my driver for graphics... could never get back into the desktop.
(07:24:01 PM) calmchess: so right on
(07:24:36 PM) agamotto: Gadwil- Nvidia stuff is still driving some nuts... from emails I have been sent
(07:24:57 PM) GoodGuy: Why not multi-boot ajamison5579.. that makes it down to two Kick butt machines needed
(07:25:13 PM) Gadwil: I like my Nvidia GTS 450. Just had that issue on the alpha, perhaps it has been fixed since Beta.
(07:25:22 PM) ***chrisreich is back
(07:25:39 PM) ajamison5579: Because I do not want to reboot constantly i want to use a KVM to switch between them lol Goodguy
(07:25:41 PM) calmchess: i'm getting into mobile websites now
(07:25:43 PM) gpop7 [6393c5c0@gateway/web/freenode/ip.99.147.197.192] entered the room.
(07:25:48 PM) calmchess: gimp rules
(07:25:51 PM) calmchess: thats all i use
(07:25:54 PM) agamotto: Gadwil- I have no idea, but I will ask for you
(07:26:04 PM) GoodGuy: Ok if money is NO object :-)
(07:26:34 PM) Gadwil: No need agamotto, I will simply back-up what I need from another drive and install it there, no need to ask, I will find out in a few days.
(07:26:40 PM) agamotto: ajamison5579- In that case, matching mac pros, with... three monitors?
(07:26:42 PM) SammySez: hmmm... these streams are difficult to keep alive
(07:26:42 PM) ajamison5579: plus I have issues Dual-booting Ubuntu
(07:27:02 PM) agamotto: Gadwil- Ok, just thought it could save you the bother
(07:27:06 PM) calmchess: rgb i guess
(07:27:11 PM) GregInTexas: lol! It does come up on the phone! now I've got stereo!
(07:27:22 PM) calmchess: i use all 6
(07:27:22 PM) GregInTexas: which is quite annoying actually ...
(07:27:28 PM) agamotto: SammySez- Who is your ISP?
(07:27:28 PM) Gadwil: agamotto, I look at it like a chance to do some actual bug testing.
(07:27:35 PM) SammySez: brb - gotta restart the browser. Flash - ugh!
(07:27:40 PM) SammySez left the room (quit: Quit: Page closed).
(07:27:44 PM) GoodGuy: I am triple-booting WinXP Pro - Ubuntu 10.10 and PingutOS 10.10.1 (Ubuntu clone) with no issues
(07:28:09 PM) agamotto: GoodGuy- How is Pingus?
(07:28:14 PM) GoodGuy: I use a product called BootIt NG.. soon be BootIt Bare Metal
(07:28:23 PM) jxtdbor: RobbieF: that saves 12 bits NOT 3 bits
(07:28:23 PM) GoodGuy: I like it alot
(07:28:28 PM) calmchess: i like to be consistant
(07:28:33 PM) calmchess: all 6!
(07:28:52 PM) GoodGuy: Its like Ubuntu with Perfectbuntu and some other eye cany and tweaks
(07:28:55 PM) GregInTexas: I use 3 occasionally
(07:29:05 PM) GoodGuy: candy
(07:29:26 PM) dman810: we love eye cany GoodGuy!
(07:29:30 PM) agamotto: GoodGuy- Hmm, I will have to roll a VirtualBox for it and give it a go
(07:29:41 PM) ajamison5579: I want some Jelly Beans
(07:29:55 PM) Guest_2484: Is "The Meat" still available on the new website?
(07:29:55 PM) GoodGuy: Try Ultimate Ubuntu.... so much eye candy it's strange
(07:29:57 PM) _Jot_: RobbieF, can't you even add red, green and blue to make the number yourself? cause that's what they consist of
(07:30:06 PM) calmchess: a developer needs to install his own server
(07:30:13 PM) majnoon: is okies ,got webhosting and can sell :)
(07:30:13 PM) calmchess: thats my thoughts
(07:30:17 PM) ***chrisreich is not a fan of computer eye candy. It does not help me get work done.
(07:30:17 PM) SammySez [4b874ec7@gateway/web/freenode/ip.75.135.78.199] entered the room.
(07:30:21 PM) GoodGuy: I found it very "busy" for my tastes
(07:30:25 PM) ***agamotto glares at RobbieF .... I just moved our LUG from GoDaddy to IX.... sheesh
(07:30:35 PM) Dosbomber: Are we supposed to be relevant?
(07:30:39 PM) ajamison5579: EricKidd thought you were over there sleeping in the corner
(07:30:49 PM) EricKidd: He woke me up!!!
(07:30:59 PM) _Jot_: it's okay Eric, just go to sleep
(07:31:04 PM) chrisreich: on the other hand, Christa as eye candy also would interfere with my work.
(07:31:07 PM) GoodGuy: cursor was a spinning globe while waiting and a fancy 3d arrow the rest of the time
(07:31:15 PM) SammySez: I've bought a couple of SkinIts in the past. The quality it actually pretty good. One for my netty and one for my lappy.
(07:31:20 PM) jxtdbor: Robbie: what are you doing? mount the FTP directory using nautilus, and edit files directly and save them. There is NO NEED to upload the files EVERYTIME YOU FINISH EDITING!!!
(07:31:22 PM) agamotto: Guest_2484- The Meat is on hiatus until RobbieF finds someone with the time to take it over
(07:31:24 PM) GoodGuy: Firefox looked like a neon light show
(07:31:48 PM) jxtdbor: RobbieF: what are you doing? mount the FTP directory using nautilus, and edit files directly and save them. There is NO NEED to upload the files EVERYTIME YOU FINISH EDITING!!!
(07:31:52 PM) EricKidd: Zzzzzz
(07:32:05 PM) chrisreich: lol @ EricKidd
(07:32:08 PM) SammySez: ugh - FireFox 4 is terrible on my 10.04 installation. Works fine in Windows, but definitely going to roll back the rev in Ubunut
(07:32:17 PM) _Jot_: jxtdbor, not everybody uses nautilus, so this is a bit more explanation for that
(07:32:21 PM) calmchess: i have over 7000 fonts
(07:32:23 PM) agamotto: GoodGuy- I will try Pingus then
(07:32:25 PM) dman810: How many episodes does Robby plan on doing for this feature?
(07:32:27 PM) calmchess: u need to buy a package
(07:32:45 PM) GoodGuy: Its Pinguy OS.. the developer is Pinguy
(07:32:46 PM) _Jot_: dman810, as many as needed to make Christa stay forever, maybe
(07:32:55 PM) dman810: funny Jot!
(07:33:01 PM) jxtdbor: well then: mount the FTP directory, and edit files directly and save them. There is NO NEED to upload the files EVERYTIME YOU FINISH EDITING!!!
(07:33:02 PM) chrisreich: Pinguy OS is a winner
(07:33:02 PM) ***agamotto chuckles
(07:33:05 PM) Dosbomber: There's also some benefit to preparing many files in advance of a major update, then upload all at once. No users get stuck with partial material in the meantime.
(07:33:10 PM) dman810: She can stay!
(07:33:13 PM) GoodGuy: He created an Ubuntu with all the toys he thought his family would want
(07:33:28 PM) GregInTexas: what is the method jxtdbor?
(07:33:37 PM) GregInTexas: what is the mount command?
(07:33:44 PM) GoodGuy: I thought Firefox was a bit overdone imho, but others may disagree
(07:33:51 PM) _Jot_: jxtdbor, he is doing that, so you can watch the changes as they happen on your own computer, if you have the website loaded
(07:34:15 PM) domsnet left the room (quit: Quit: Page closed).
(07:34:32 PM) RiverRat_ [4734ad4b@gateway/web/freenode/ip.71.52.173.75] entered the room.
(07:34:39 PM) agamotto: Khan Academy also has many nice tutorials
(07:35:23 PM) SammySez: heh. AWN. I got rid of that after about a week. It is pretty, but not very practical for me. I prefer a hard core industrial look. :)
(07:35:25 PM) dman810: anyone know of a program to check for duplicate files on a remote shared folder?
(07:35:42 PM) Dosbomber: Easy Peasy? Is she stealing Hillary's bit?
(07:35:48 PM) Yazid19651: easy peasy...LOL
(07:35:58 PM) chrisreich: does anyone know what a peasy is?
(07:35:59 PM) GoodGuy: They have a Linux distro called Easy Peasy (Norwegian)
(07:36:07 PM) SammySez: I still have my Easy Peasy v1.0 install media for netbooks
(07:36:11 PM) Yazid19651: nice distro
(07:36:20 PM) calmchess: do center boxes
(07:36:29 PM) agamotto: chrisreich- I don't remember.... to many years away from the UK
(07:36:30 PM) jxtdbor left the room (quit: Quit: Page closed).
(07:36:30 PM) Gadwil: I haven't been on Calypso in a while...
(07:36:30 PM) calmchess: center and float 3
(07:36:31 PM) Yazid19651: runs well on a MAC. :)
(07:36:31 PM) GoodGuy: I booted the LiveCD in Vbox... looked nice
(07:36:58 PM) agamotto: I would imagine something along the line of being as easy as cooking peas?
(07:37:11 PM) SammySez: what is the demo URL again?
(07:37:14 PM) dman810: i burnt pears once!
(07:37:18 PM) GoodGuy: Probably just because it rhymes
(07:37:19 PM) Dosbomber: That is an enormous laptop... I love it. I just wish there was an actual computer inside it.
(07:37:20 PM) dman810: peas even~
(07:37:22 PM) Dosbomber: ;)
(07:37:28 PM) RiverRat_: can some one recomend a laptop with second generation Inel chip. I need a new laptop.

(07:38:23 PM) GoodGuy: I want a motherboard with EFI.. want to build a NAS box
(07:38:59 PM) RiverRat_: Does Mac support flash ?
(07:39:01 PM) GregInTexas: prolly I5 is as fast as you can go right now in a lightweight box
(07:39:05 PM) beaustgess left the room (quit: Ping timeout: 252 seconds).
(07:39:16 PM) SammySez: I fear Macs. I fear that if I buy one, I will love it and feel compelled to buy the "i-Everything" suite
(07:39:17 PM) chrisreich: mac will run flash after user installs same
(07:39:38 PM) agamotto: Hmmm, I will have to look out for this stuff when I go to moving/tidying the LUG website
(07:39:41 PM) GregInTexas: what editor is he using?
(07:39:51 PM) SammySez: what is the URL?
(07:39:54 PM) GoodGuy: SGedit?
(07:39:58 PM) GoodGuy: Gedit?
(07:40:02 PM) chrisreich: I use an iMac. also an iPod. Don't feel compelled to purchase more i-ware
(07:40:12 PM) Dosbomber: It's the i-BuyNewHardwareEverySixMonths suite that bothers me.
(07:40:16 PM) GregInTexas: doesn't look like the gedit that I use ... but who knows
(07:40:32 PM) chrisreich: LOTS of free software available in the Mac world
(07:40:38 PM) SammySez: it may be the KATE editor. I can't see it
(07:40:45 PM) RiverRat_: My wife has the new IPad 2 and loves it.
(07:40:53 PM) GregInTexas: I can't either ... maybe it's bluefish
(07:41:07 PM) GoodGuy: Maybe Gedit with line numbers turned on
(07:41:07 PM) agamotto: RobbieF- Some in the chat are asking for you to give out the URL for the 'sample' site...
(07:41:09 PM) SammySez: the tabs look like gedit
(07:41:19 PM) tordeu: yeah.... gedit
(07:41:21 PM) GregInTexas: yea, they do

(07:41:33 PM) GregInTexas: so how do you get multiple pains like that?
(07:41:38 PM) GregInTexas: panes
(07:41:40 PM) GregInTexas: lol
(07:41:46 PM) GoodGuy: Hit F3
(07:41:53 PM) chrisreich: okay, I used to think that there was nothing more boring than watching someone play a computer game. Now I see that it is more boring to watch someone code.
(07:42:04 PM) GregInTexas: lol

(07:57:42 PM) Yazid19651: Apple advertises on every MAC... so we have no choice
(07:57:54 PM) agamotto: Gadwil- Just as long as it isn't a .ly site... we don't want to support Qadaffi Duck
(07:57:57 PM) GoodGuy: I didnt think XBMC was mainstream enough to get that
(07:58:05 PM) chrisreich: Dell and HP put their logos on their garbage...
(07:58:05 PM) _Jot_: EricKidd, are you still continuing your amazing streak of losses? that's a thing to be proud of you know

(08:00:03 PM) agamotto: RobbieF- Yes, toyota and Mercedes have already had problems with that
(08:00:03 PM) _Jot_: RobbieF, it is very simple, it's just a recorder that records the signal, no decoding needed, just replaying it is enough to unlock the car
(08:00:07 PM) Gadwil: Don't they randomly change the code each use?
(08:00:08 PM) dman810: What does a Boxee Box do?
(08:00:22 PM) majnoon: prob could jaust MAKE one
(08:00:29 PM) GoodGuy: Its like a Roku or WD Live TV set-top box
(08:00:32 PM) agamotto: Gadwil- In the better-designed ones, yes
(08:00:35 PM) Yazid19651: thieves are always in their element >:o
